How long have you been at buckle up?
Ever since I moved with my family from Bratislava 2 years ago.
What is your daily role in the team?
Probably it's still evolving and changing a bit, which I enjoy. In a smaller company, you never know what will have to be done tomorrow. I started as an office manager, but now I also work with clients and manage projects so that our output to their requirements is prepared in a pleasant modern design, functional and on time. We have clients from all over the world... we are seated in a small town, but we are in contact with about 40 countries around the world and I communicate mainly in English.
Is there anything new you would like to learn?
I am very keen to learn as much as possible from my software developer colleagues. Maybe I'll even start to understand the programming jokes. :-)
Android or iOS? Mac or PC?
When I started at buckle up, I was worried how I was going to work on a Mac, since I was only used to a PC. I still remember saying all the time that I didn't see any advantages over a PC. But I am going to buy a new laptop for home soon and NOW I am strongly considering a Mac. :-) It's such a darling. :-))) As regards my private smartphone though, I still remain Android-positive.
What was your greatest challenge at buckle up in the beginning?
The Mac, obviously :-). To be honest, I needed a while to get used to the fact that women are in a minority here :-) as anywhere else in IT teams. But my dear colleagues sensed it and calmly teased me about it :-) and they didn't spare me even during table soccer.
How did you feel about Pezinok before you joined buckle up? Has anything changed after?
I just thought it's a small town with vineyards and it's good that trains run directly to Bratislava and Trnava, so you can avoid traffic jams.
However, there is much more here than I expected. Little by little, I fell in love with running in the vineyards. It takes just a few minutes and I'm in the woods, where there are many hiking trails. You can go on foot or by bicycle and it is not uncommon to meet people here riding horses. In winter you can go skiing to Baba or Zochova Chata. So those who like to live actively and in nature have everything right under their noses and have something to do all year round.
Besides that, Pezinok and its surroundings have strong viticultural traditions. There is always something happening - events by local winemakers, concerts, Ceramic Market, Wine Festival,… there is still something to discover.
How do you commute to work?
By car, but often by bicycle. When the weather is nice, we get on the bikes with the kids in the morning and in a heartbeat we're at school, at work. It's mostly flat here, so it would be a shame not to use it, to start the car every morning and neglect one's figure :). By the way, here in Pezinok everything is in reach within "five" minutes.
Which thing at buckle up surprised you the most compared to other firms?
That many things can be solved without scheduling a meeting. We listen to good music which makes for a pleasant day, everyone can add their preferred songs to the playlist. And also that even without home office, thanks to flexible working hours which we have, it is possible to combine work and family and be satisfied at work.
If you had to describe buckle up in three words, what would they be?
Technology, precision, relaxation :) and I mean it in the sense of a relaxed atmosphere and especially not taking oneself deadly seriously.
